Why I think Compatibility is just as Important as Skillset when choosing your VA

Every time I get on a discovery call with a potential new shiny client I bang on about this, but for me, I think it is more important than worrying if I have ever used a specific email marketing platform, or have experience sending contracts,invoicing, Canva etc. (I do have experience in all of these just for the record!). Here’s why…

I am a huge lover of Instagram, and have whole heartedly given in to the fact that my business uses that platform as it’s roots. The beauty of it is that I can showcase who I am, what I stand for, what I do, what I can offer, a glimpse into my life behind the scenes, and cater to the type of person/business I want to work with. Everyone who chooses to work with me, comes to me with complete transparency after ‘window shopping’ for their VA.

By this time, you’ve gathered that I suit what you’re looking for, but more than likely you’ve also had a peek at my website to see if I tick the boxes of experience of certain tasks you’re looking at me for. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re looking for a VA to be able to have extensive knowledge in building websites, or accounting, etc, yes, you definitely should look for this experience in your VA or a Virtual Assistant who specialises in these areas. 

I would also suggest not being too picky on your checklist of tasks that your VA has extensive knowledge in. Book your discovery call, and just chat with each other, guage the chemistry, after all, this will be YOUR assistant and you will be working closely TOGETHER. You need to be on the same page, be able to bounce ideas off each other, and both feel passionate about business success.

I always say that as long as you can tell that the VA is capable, on it, efficient and passionate, they are more than likely able to pick up and understand the various systems and platforms you use (unless there are reasons like the above). 

The moral of the story is look for compatability as well as experience and knowledge. I love the relationships I have with my clients, it’s like have an amazing group of friends who are all super passionate about business, success and enjoyment along the way. Plus, I have added to my skillset in areas I never worked in before because they trusted me and chose compatibility as well as experience.
